Final Preparation for Overtures 2022

This is it! Let's do a quick review of what you need as you begin your Overtures journey.

Prepare:

• Your assigned solo. Make sure you have it memorized and that you've practiced with the accompanist. 
  
• Two memorized and contrasting contemporary monologues. You'll present one of them Monday morning. Present the one you feel is your strongest piece. 
• A 32-bar Golden Age cut. Make sure you have sheet music!
• A 32-bar Pop cut. Make sure you have sheet music!

Bring: 

• Sheet music for your assigned solo, your pop song and your Golden Age song.
• Printed text of your monologues
• Your audition songbook
• Dance clothing and jazz shoes, if you have them
• Clothing appropriate for a singing and acting audition <-You should wear this upon arrival Monday morning for your first class of the day.
• Black pants and shoes you can dance in <-Truth be told, we don't anticipate you needing these in class until we go into tech for the Showcase on June 17. If you need them before then, we will let you know!
• Have your phone handy to record music, accompaniment, if you want to (you also can record yourself when you work if you want to hear yourself later. Just always make sure the instructor is OK with it.)
• Two copies of your resume and photo. <-Note that you'll turn in your resume and photo for feedback early on in the program. You'll receive notes and then be expected to make alterations to your resume and reprint your resume by June 16. We can help reprint (but we won't have anything fanicer than standard printer paper.)
• Pencil and/or pen to take notes. Don't plan on taking your notes on your laptop. 

Monday refresher (for the last time):

• Arrive on time for your check-in. 
• If you haven't completed the survey and if you haven't responded to the student information form email yet, please do so immediately. You don't want to make check-in longer than it needs to be!
• Once you've completed your COVID-19 test, you'll head to the fourth floor for your first session.
• In that session, you should wear audition attire. This is the first time you're meeting your core faculty in person. Leave a strong impression! 
• Students will be called on in a random order. When it's your turn, you'll get up, present your monologue and assigned song, back to back and memorized, and then receive feedback from some of your core faculty. Present your strongest piece first!
